新少林寺

Shaolin
Cast:

刘德华, 谢霆锋, 成龙, 范冰冰, 余少群

Story:

In warlord era of early 20th century, Hao Jie(刘德华) ,
a conceit & ruthless warlord,
is betrayed by his own ambitious right-hand man Cao Man (谢霆锋).
Seeking refuge at Shaolin where he repent & found peace for his deeds,
Cao Man is not abt to let him off, and even wants to savage the whole Shaolin.
Will heroes prevail again?

How I feel:

Same old thing?
Bad guy betrayed,
repent but kana dig out to fight again.

But this film is different in its way.
A brevity & comprehensive start off,
follow by mouth opening+ frantic horse carriage chasing.

The characters are well developed,
winning formula certainly the cast,
whose acting is superb!

I especially like Andy Lau's noodle eating scene.

Andy Lau was eating his noodle wif Jackie Chan in the background,
who incessantly giving him suggestions on whether to bury or cremate his daughter.

Ate halfway, tears dropped, wiped off, and continued his noodle.
Gosh, what a way to show his agony.

Nicolas Tse also invoked hatred for brutally killing off a senior monk,
with audience uttering a sigh of disdain when he gave his last stab to the poor monk.

My Review:
3 1/2 OUT OF FIVE

Miraculously, this action-packed film drew constant sobs in the theater.
Shaolin indeed delivers in terms of action and emotion.

The ending has a twist to who will survive the fight.

Same old story is well eclipsed by scintillating acting.
I don't mind anyone jio-ing me for round two.
Thumbs up to the actors!
