Why do watches and clocks in advertisements often shows
clock face with the hour hand on 10 and min hand on 2?
Bery common sight on TV, print, online ads.
Have u noticed and asked yrself this qns?
Colgate advert
Nobody seems to have conclusion. My mum when saw her Colgate box,
exclaimed excitedly:
"Oh they reminding us to brush teeth at 10:10"
Faint!
So...Is there an exact ans?
We've done market check (wow! 准 boh?)
A watch seller told us:
"十全十美 mah!!!"
Logical. But wait!
Ang Moh's advertisements also 10:10,
Tink they kw wat 全 wat 美?
In order not to lose sleep, surfing online for ans.
Quote:
" The consensus of opinion
(confirmed by Timex) is that clock and watch hands
in advertisements are typically set at 10:10
so that the company's logo will be well-displayed.
In addition, this position of the hands resembles a smile."
Okay. reasonable. perhaps.
So universally adopted.
十全十美 for 10:10.
Having a 'nike' victory tick.
Showing company's logo.
Resembling a smiling face.
Everything has a reason.
The more inconclusive, the more beautiful it seems.
